PICADILLY HIJACK
INNOVATION EXPERIMENT
WE HIJACKED PICCADILLY BEFORE IT WAS COOL.
CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Augmented reality was in its infancy, and with the revamp of the world-famous Piccadilly lights costing £100 million pounds, it seemed like the perfect opportunity for some mischief.
I wanted to show what we could do with a little bit of dev-time, a mobile device, and a train ticket. We hijacked the world-famous landmark and delivered a custom message by geo-mapping and tracking the Piccadilly lights, allowing us to provide a custom message on cue.
This side hustle/hack was to show the possibility of the technology and that our methods for delivering information were changing. In hindsight, it was the beginning of the met-verse.
