With the development of Here East firmly underway we were challenged to craft an eye catching video that would act as beacon to the local area and its makers. Taking on the role of Creative Director for the project, we looked to the local area for the answer and found John Nolan an animatronics a creature building expert and a true maker. We commissioned him to build the star of our film, an animatronic head two times the size of a human head, who would give a rousing speech, talking directly to the maker community. We also brought in local film company Agile, which understood our vision: We wanted to keep it real without visual effects. The final film was shot in a yet-to-be-developed space of Here East. The result was a visually stunning film that tapped into local makers’ DNA and delivered the core values of Here East.
